Founder & Medical Director, Access Psychiatry
Dr. Safari is the founder, CEO, and medical director of Access Psychiatry, as well as a published author whose work promotes awareness and innovative solutions in mental health care. At Access Psychiatry, compassionate, evidence-based treatment meets timely access and individualized care. She specializes in bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and many other mental health conditions. Her commitment is simple yet powerful: every person deserves high-quality mental health care without barriers, regardless of race, background, faith, or gender orientation. She believes that behind every symptom is a story, and behind every story is a person, a truth that inspires her to listen deeply, guide with purpose, and empower lasting progress.
Dr. Safari’s academic and professional journey reflects her dedication to both science and service. She began with an Associate Degree in Nursing from Radians College, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from American Sentinel University, and went on to receive her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatric mental health from Walden University. She later earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University, where she developed expertise in translating research into clinical practice. Her published doctoral work highlighted the profound consequences of psychotropic medication nonadherence among individuals with mental health disorders, offering evidence-based interventions to enhance treatment adherence and improve patient outcomes.
Her path to psychiatry began in general nursing and progressed into leadership, where she managed a busy clinical unit and guided teams through moments of crisis and recovery. It was here that she recognized a profound gap; emotional pain often went unseen, untreated, and unspoken, while delays in care worsened symptoms and disrupted lives. Motivated to be part of the solution, she pursued advanced psychiatric training with a goal to treat the whole person mentally and physically while removing barriers to timely, effective care.
In her practice, Dr. Safari blends clinical expertise with empathy, offering psychotherapy, medication management, and evidence-based interventions tailored to each patient’s needs. She is committed to lifelong learning, actively engaging in continuing education, staying current with psychiatric research, and pursuing advanced training to ensure her care is both cutting-edge and compassionate. As an active member of professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association, she remains connected to the broader mental health community and advocates for advancements in psychiatric care.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Safari is the co-founder of the African Development Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting orphans, underserved communities, and victims of war. This work reflects her belief that mental wellness is a human right and that access to care should extend to even the most underserved populations. Through this mission, she continues to give back, uplift the less privileged, and bring hope to those facing the greatest challenges.
As a proud military family, Dr. Safari is also deeply committed to supporting service members, veterans, and their loved ones, helping them navigate the unique mental health challenges that come with military life and transitions.
For those navigating emotional distress, whether from mental illness, trauma, or life’s pressures, Dr. Safari offers more than treatment. She offers partnership, guidance, and the assurance that healing is possible. Her commitment is to help every patient move beyond survival and into a life where they can truly thrive, understanding that meaningful change is only possible when access to care is available.
We also support integrative wellness and may recommend complementary services to enhance your treatment and overall well-being.
At Access Psychiatry, we prioritize value-based, collaborative care with providers who share our commitment to excellence. Physical health issues can impact psychiatric symptoms, so we may refer you to specialists in areas such as primary care, functional medicine, or neurology. We work with trauma and grief therapists to support emotional healing. Evidence-based complementary therapies like acupuncture, massage, and nature-based practices might also be recommended as part of a holistic approach to your well-being.
